Sigmetal NEOFER DECOR is a semi-gloss, solvent-based, rust-inhibiting primer, intermediate and finishing paint for ferrous metals.

for interior and exterior use, based on reinforced alkyd resin.

It can be used to protect ferrous metals such as metal structures, frames, doors, fences, railings, etc., in rural, urban and maritime environments.

Coverage

Theoretical: 15 m²/liter for a dry thickness of 40 μm.

Practical: Practical yield depends on various factors, such as substrate structure, object condition and shape, application method, applicator experience and atmospheric conditions.

Systems

Untreated steel: Apply 1 coat of Sigmetal Neofer Decor diluted with 5% white spirit. Follow with 2 coats of Sigmetal Neofer Decor.

Maintenance: Touch up exposed areas with Sigmetal Neofer Decor diluted to 5%. Then apply 2 coats of Sigmetal Neofer Decor.

Total system thickness: min. 100 μm.

Substrate conditions

Unroll the substrate by scraping and wire-brushing preferably to the minimum ISO-St-3 grade or shot-blast to ISO-Sa2½ and remove dust. Degrease if necessary.
Clean with mains water in marine and industrial environments.
Remove loose paint.
Roughen surface by sanding.

Application conditions

To obtain good film formation (complete drying), application and drying conditions must be as follows:

Substrate and ambient temperature: minimum 5°C.
Substrate temperature must be at least 3°C above dew point.
Maximum relative humidity: 85%.

Recommended thinner: white spirit
Quantity of thinner: 0-5% by volume

Airless spray gun

Recommended thinner: white spirit
Thinner quantity: 5-10% by volume
Nozzle opening: approx. 0.33 mm (0.013 inch)
Nozzle pressure: 12 MPa (= approx. 120 atm.)

Material cleaning

Sigma 20-02 thinner or white spirit

Storage

12 months minimum in a cool, dry, frost-free place, in original, unopened packaging.
