For porous interior mineral surfaces. Stone Oil is a high-quality oil based on natural materials that creates a satin, wear-resistant surface that will not yellow if tinted.
Porous interior mineral surfaces should be treated with the colorless or tinted product as a primer or topcoat.
Use Stone Oil tinted more often, as the colorless product yellows to a greater or lesser extent after exposure.

Application as follows:

  • Not suitable for screeds with quartz finishes or additives that reduce concrete porosity!
  • Light, colorless surfaces (terrazzo, light-colored natural stone, etc.): add 10% BIOFA 2108 to Stone Oil.
  • Dark, natural or colored surfaces (natural stone, terracotta tiles, etc.) : treat with colorless Stone Oil.
  • Monotone surfaces (screeds, concrete, etc.) are to be treated with tinted Stone Oil.

Instructions for use

  1. Substrate preparation he substrate must be clean, dust-free, free of grease stains and prepared in accordance with good engineering practice.
The substrate must be alkali-neutral and dry (acceptable moisture content: less than 1.5% for cement screeds and less than 0.5% for anhydrite screeds, according to carbide method).
60-grit sanding and dust removal should be carried out, in accordance with manufacturers' recommendations (anhydrite screeds: 60-grit).
Important: after sanding, the surface must be homogeneous, closed and porous.
The quality of the finish must correspond to that of a finishing screed.
Sandy substrates should be treated with fixative and then plastered.
Underfloor heating: for new floors, preheat for 3 days.
Turn off the heating 24 hours before applying the first coat and turn it back on 72 hours after the last application (increase by 5° C every 24 hours, maximum water temperature 30° C).
  2. Base coat:Stone Oil is applied 'crosswise' using a short-nap roller.
Very porous backgrounds should be impregnated with BIOFA 3754 Hard Primer (see technical data sheet).
Please note surfaces with terracotta floor tiles, tiles, flagstones and other highly porous, absorbent substrates must be pre-treated with a coat of Hard Primer 3754 diluted with 20% BIOFA 0500 Thinner to avoid the risk of white discoloration of the surface.
Avoid over-abundance of primer, and blot off any product remaining on the surface.
  3. Intermediate / finishing coat: apply Stone Oil colorless or tinted twice 'crosswise' with a short-haired velvet roller.
Low-porosity surfaces such as terrazzo or polished stone should be treated with one or two thin, colorless coats, spread with a mop.
By adding BIOFA 0500 Thinner, the applicator can direct and control the treatment.
Caution: for anhydrite screeds that are not water-resistant, be sure to apply a sufficient thickness of Stone Oil.
Important: always carry out a preliminary test.
    Mix drums of different fillers.
During application and drying, ensure good ventilation and otherwise a penetrating odour may develop.
    Do not work below 16°C!
  4. Cleaning equipment: au BIOFA 0500 thinner immediately after use.
Used thinner can be reused after decanting.
  5. Care and maintenance: aDry with a broom, vacuum cleaner or cloth; damp with a pH-neutral cleaner, such as BIOFA Nacasa BIOFA4010.

Drying

Dust-free after 6-12 hours.
Recoatable after 16-24 hours (20°C / 50-55% humidity).
Floors will be moderately usable after 3 days, with optimum resistance after 7-14 days.
Drying times may be increased by low temperatures, residual alkalinity in the soil or high relative humidity.
