How to use

TOOLS

As desired or depending on project configuration :

  • Brush
  • Roller
  • Spray gun

PREPARATION

Wood must be bare, clean, dry and not greasy. Always round corners and sharp edges to ensure even coverage.

  • Rough wood: sand with 150-grit sandpaper to obtain a smooth surface and remove dust. Protect wood against insect attack or fungal growth with V33 Universal Treatment or Garden Wood Treatment.
  • Rough DIFFICULT WOOD (exotic, oak, larch, oiled or greasy...): dilute the 1st coat with 10% water and apply an undiluted 2nd coat (avoid too thick an application). On oily wood, degrease first with acetone.
  • FOR WOOD THAT HAS ALREADY BEEN LASURED: brush to remove loose parts, then sand with 150-grit sandpaper to obtain a smooth surface and remove dust.

APPLICATION

Ideal application conditions: between 12 and 25°C in dry weather.

  • Stir Chalet High Protect vigorously before use with a long, wide stirring rod, paying particular attention to the bottom of the pot, so as to homogenize the product.
  • Apply one coat in the direction of the wood grain, making sure to cover all hollows and edges. Leave to dry for 3 hours. Apply a 2nd coat in the same way and leave to dry for 12 hours.
  • Remove as much product as possible from tools after use. Do not dispose of residues and wash water/solvents in sinks, toilets, sewers, garbage garbage cans... afin to avoid release into the environment.

TIPS

  • For spray application, allow for dilution (max 10% water) and application in 3 thinner coats.
  • The colorless variant is for maintenance use only on wood that has already been stained or tinted, or to deconcentrate other shades in the color chart.
  • Not suitable for use on thermo-heated, heat-treated or acidic wood.
  • The color, porosity, species and age of the wood can influence the final shade of the substrate. Always test on an inconspicuous area.
  • Sand with 240-grit sandpaper between 2 coats if the surface feels rough to the touch after the 1st coat.
  • Avoid wasting woodstain: estimate the amount of woodstain you need.
  • Close unfinished jars so you can reuse the woodstain. Reusing woodstain is a good way of reducing the environmental impact of products over their entire life cycle. Close packaging after use.
  • When using by spraying, be sure to wear appropriate gloves and clothing, and avoid breathing mists.

8-YEAR WARRANTY

The 8-year warranty covers :

  • NEW or RESTORED WOODS of common species, in accordance with the preparation preparation and application.
  • EXPOSURE: on vertical woodwork only.
South and South-West exposure: apply 3 coats.
  • The guarantee is limited to reimbursement of the product (on presentation of the can and sales receipt) and concerns only the appearance of the stain.
